About

Untitled User Untitled User
We are a North Wales based community arts organisation bringing arts activities closer to people who are furthest away from them through social, economic or health reasons.
Started by two media colleagues with writing and photography backgrounds, we are lucky to have a wonderful team of artists working with us.
In January 2014, with ACW funding, we started the Altered Images project at Ty Newydd Approved Premises, Bangor. This weekly art group has won awards in the prestigious Koestler Awards every year since then. We also run a weekly creative writing and reading group at the hostel and this year have launched a poetry competition for people from Wales within the criminal justice system..
In 2014 we ran The Word:Conwy:Y Gair, a celebration of words in all forms from poetry to rap, comic strips to braille, sign language, graffiti art, fiction, comic strips, songs... then Poet Laureate Gillian Clarke, world word expert David Crystal and performance poet Patience Agbabi headlined what was a small event with big ambitions!
In 2018 we received Lottery funding for a weekly art group for people in Conwy who have been bereaved. This is supported by Cruse counsellors and has very quickly grown into a friendly, relaxed, sociable group for people of all ages and at all stages of bereavement.
TEA has also organised weekly poetry and arts activities for older people in lunch centres and hospital in North Wales.
